The Bluesfest Audio Tapes

In 1996 and 1997 we decided to try taping an entire Blues Festival by just leaving a reel-to-reel tape recorder running without interruptionThe result was a tape of the entire Blues Festival including all the talking as well as all the music made.  We are now making these tapes available as sets of MP3 files, each file being about 30 minutes long.  We tried to split the long file at points of silence so as not to break up any music or conversations:

1. 1980 Ted's place on Gainsborough Ted B, John G and Wayne W Jethro playing guitar against the wall and John's long rambling talking blues song
2. 1982 Wayne's place on Hiley, in the living room Wayne W, Ted B, Eric D and later Isolde and Gareth F Woody picks up Jethro and Kenny B. at the train station and the WET Band is born. After midnight Isolde and Gareth arrive.
3. 1984 Ted's place on Gainsbourgh Wayne W, Ted B, Eric & Sabrina D. and Wayne & Barb B Possibly Willie B's first fest. By now this is clearly a biennial event.
4. 1986 Wayne's place on Hiley, in the basement Wayne W, Ted B, Eric D, Chris E, Ian D Brother Ray appears and remains. Jethro invents the beerbottleneck banjo.
5. 1988 Wayne's place on Clements, in basement Same as above, but Ian brought a girlfriend The first Bfest at our now famous venue. We decide that annual would be better.
6. 1989

7. 1990
